Yorkville police are investigating an armed robbery in which two men allegedly stole an iPhone and cash from someone.

Police responded to a report of two suspicious vehicles at 9:57 a.m., on Thursday, in the 4500 block of Rosenwinkel Street, according to a news release.

While en-route, officers were told that a witness reported seeing a firearm in the area, according to the statement. When police arrived, they encountered the victim, but the two suspects were not there, the statement said.

Police said they believe the meeting between the victim and the two suspects was prearranged. The victim lost about $250 in cash and the stolen iPhone was worth about $500, police said.

“Both offenders displayed and pointed a handgun at the victim,” the statement read. “The victim in this investigation has not been cooperative. It is believed that the victim had arranged to meet one of the offenders at this location and is known to the victim.”

Police described the first offender as a black male, approximately 6-feet tall, with a thin build, bald, a short beard and wearing all black clothing. The second alleged offender is described as a black male, bald, and wearing black shorts and a red shirt, police said. The offending vehicle in the investigation is described as a gray Pontiac, possibly a Grand Prix, with possible Indiana registration.

Yorkville police said the incident is believed to be isolated and targeted, adding that there is no threat to the public.
