Yorkville senior Owen Horeni, who took second place in the Class 3A 800-meter run and led the Foxes to conference and sectional titles, is the Record Newspapers boys track and field Athlete of the Year.
Sandwich senior and Duke commit Sunny Weber, who won the Class 2A 1,600-meter run state championship and took second in the 3,200 to finish her career with six total state titles and eight medals in track, is the Record Newspapers girls track and field Athlete of the Year.

Oswego rising senior Dontrell Young, a seven-time state medalist in track, made his verbal commitment to Iowa State for football this week. Young, a defensive back going into his third varsity football season, chose Iowa State from nine scholarship offers.

Oswego senior Jaelynn Anthony and Yorkville senior Kayla Kersting were named to the Illinois Coaches Association Class All-State first team, released Monday, leading Kendall County-area selections.

Mike Rembert, a 41-year-old graduate of St. Rita who played collegiately at Bradley and Southeast Missouri State, and overseas in Austria, and most recently as an assistant for two years at Benet, has been named the boys basketball coach at Yorkville Christian.

Chase Dykstra was dominant on the mound and Fulton capitalized on seven Parkview Christian errors to win 12-1 in five innings in a Class 1A Putnam County Sectional semifinal Wednesday.

Putnam County defeated Newark 11-1 on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Putnam County High School. The Panthers will take on Fulton on Saturday at 11a.m. for the Sectional title.

Fulton defeated Parkview Christian 12-1 in five innings on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Putnam County High School in Granville. Fulton will play for the Sectional title on Saturday at 11a.m.

Ryan Paradise, a Northern Illinois graduate who played basketball there and was Marmion basketball coach before running his Basketball Paradise program in the Fox Valley area, has been hired as Yorkville Christian’s athletic director.
