Yorkville senior Owen Horeni, who took second place in the Class 3A 800-meter run and led the Foxes to conference and sectional titles, is the Record Newspapers boys track and field Athlete of the Year.

Sandwich senior and Duke commit Sunny Weber, who won the Class 2A 1,600-meter run state championship and took second in the 3,200 to finish her career with six total state titles and eight medals in track, is the Record Newspapers girls track and field Athlete of the Year.

Chase Dykstra was dominant on the mound and Fulton capitalized on seven Parkview Christian errors to win 12-1 in five innings in a Class 1A Putnam County Sectional semifinal Wednesday.

Ryan Paradise, a Northern Illinois graduate who played basketball there and was Marmion basketball coach before running his Basketball Paradise program in the Fox Valley area, has been hired as Yorkville Christian’s athletic director.

Ahlivia East was a team manager last year during Oswego's state championship run with a torn ACL from basketball. Monday she delivered a pair of two-run doubles – the first, after Barrington intentionally walked Jaelynn Anthony in front of her – to power a 7-5 supersectional win.

The Oswego girls softball team beat Barrington Monday in a Class 4A supersectional pairing at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
