Colin Shields fired a complete-game two-hit shutout with three strikeouts to lead Newark baseball past Yorkville Christian to a regional title, Crew Staudacher tossed a two-hitter with nine strikeouts as Parkview Christian won a regional, and Sandwich lost a lead late in its one.

Yorkville senior Owen Horeni ran the fastest Class 800-meter run time in Friday's state track preliminaries in Charleston, while Oswego junior Dontrell Young advanced to Saturday's finals in all three sprints to lead area finalists.
