Yorkville man arrested on felony terrorist threat charges

Police allege suspect threatened to ‘kill the whole city’

Yorkville police arrested Claude V. Gauthier, 26, of the 200 block of Bertram Drive, Yorkville, at 12:25 a.m. March 28 on a warrant at his residence on charges of making a terrorist threat, a Class X felony, and falsely making a terrorist threat, a Class 1 felony.

In a statement, police said they secured an arrest warrant for Gauthier as they investigated a report that dispatchers at KenCom, Kendal County’s 911 emergency dispatching center, began receiving several phone calls at approximately 4:10 p.m. March 27 from an individual threatening to kill police paramedics and to kill a 911 dispatcher.

Police said in the statement, the caller allegedly “then proceeded to threaten to ‘kill the whole city’ and that he would start going around the state of Illinois to shoot people. This same individual proceeded to call and threaten a business in the 200 block of East Veterans Parkway. The subject threatened acts of violence against this business and its employees.”

Police said Kendall County Special Response team agents took Gauthier into custody at his residence and he was transported to the Kendall County Jail where he is being held on a $1 million bond pending court proceedings.
