Oswego village trustees Tuesday unanimously approved an economic development incentive award for EJ Vision LLC, which owns the property.

The Oswego Fire Protection District responded to the fire about 12:52 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, crews identified a fire on the roof of the building, according to the release.

Oswego village trustees have unanimously approved the 25,000-square-foot building proposed in the Prairie Market East shopping center at the intersection of U.S. Route 34 and Fifth Street.

Economic problems forced the owners of Piggy’s to close the restaurant’s doors at the end of March. They started a GoFundMe page to create a food truck business.

The Oswego restaurant sold gourmet Argentinian style burgers along with steak and chicken sandwiches.

The restaurant opened in the former Crab Boil 59 space at 15507 S. Illinois Route 59 in 2023. It had previously been located in Oswego.

America’s Best Restaurants is a national media firm focused on highlighting independent restaurants.

The Oswego Village Board OK'd a $40,000 economic incentive grant for the restaurant, located at 65 W. Washington St. La Marimba has been in Oswego since 2021.
