Girls Bowling: Individual champ Lani Breedlove leads Oswego to Matt Clark Invitational title

SYCAMORE – The Oswego girls bowling team won both the varsity and JV championships at Sycamore’s Matt Clark Invitational on Saturday at Mardi Gras Lanes. It’s the third time this season the feat has been accomplished.

In addition, the Panthers had the individual tournament champions at both the varsity and JV levels, the Queen of the Hill winner, and a total of nine individual medalists.

Oswego finished with a team total of 5,898 to beat out runner-up Sycamore, who finished with a total pinfall of 5,332.

All of Oswego’s bowlers finished in the top eight individually for the tournament. Lani Breedlove was the tournament champion with a 1,332, Evelyn James was third (1,194), Katelyn Watson was fourth (1,160), and Hailey Jourdan and Amber Lymenstull both finished with 1,106 on the day, so to break the tie, they looked at the final game of the day, which put Jourdan in seventh place and Lymenstull in eightth place.

Oswego’s JV team finished the tournament holding the top four individual places with Madi Watson taking first place, Rhiannon Reynolds second, Lexi Dellaca third and Alyssa Petersohn finishing in fourth place. 

At the end of the tournament while final scores were being tabulated, a Queen of the Hill tournament brought one varsity and one JV bowler from each team back out on the lanes to compete for one final award.  Each bowler would get one ball to knock down as many pins as possible.  The bowlers had to knock down six pins to make it through to the next round, then seven, and so on, until finally bowlers had to strike until there was only one bowler left.  Oswego senior Lexi Dellaca made it to the final round where she was the only bowler who struck to win the Queen of the Hill competition.
