St. Charles East sophomore Mya Leon continued to extend her school record for goals in a season as she earned a hat trick to lead the Saints to a 5-1 victory over Bartlett to win the Class 3A St. Charles East Regional. Geneva and St. Charles North also won regional titles.

Overcast and high 60s made for ideal conditions for IHSA's girls state track and field championships on Saturday in Charleston.

Joseph Michelini secured his third state trip in the shot put, leading Lake Park's boys track team to Friday's sectional title, while star hurdler Benjamin Schoettle led Glenbard West to second, Geneva's Bennett Konkey swept the 100 and 200 and Batavia's Darin Ashiru the jumps.

Marengo faces Aurora Central Catholic in the IHSA Class 2A Regional Championship game on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Raymond Benoy Field on the campus of Marian Central High School in Woodstock.

Aurora Central Catholic senior pitcher Corina Maratea took a hot shot off her right hip but bounced back as the Chargers rallied to upset Marengo 4-3 and win their first regional championship since 2019.

Emily Moline hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, and Hannah Wulf allowed just two hits and struck out 10 to help St. Charles East secure a 3-1 victory over Schaumburg for its ninth regional title in 11 years.
