Overcast and high 60s made for ideal conditions for IHSA's girls state track and field championships on Saturday in Charleston.

Fifteen individuals and four relay teams all qualified Friday for Saturday's state finals at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Plus, five different softball and girls soccer teams secured regional titles, and more in Friday's KCC roundup:

A year after dropping the baton to miss state in the 4x200, St. Charles East's sprint relay teams are coming back to Charleston with determination to earn All-State honors across three events.

Sycamore, Kaneland, Genoa-Kingston, Sandwich, St. Viator, Plano, Crystal Lake South, Dixon, Rochelle, and Carmel are among the teams that took part in the Class 2A girls track sectional Friday at Genoa-kingston High School.

Jillian Booth had wins in three events and qualified for the Class 3A state meet in four to help lead York to the sectional title at the Wheaton-Warrenville South girls track and field sectional. Geneva took second and Batavia a close third.

In almost every event in the 1A Seneca Sectional on Thursday night, a Fighting Irish track and field athlete was competing for the lead and producing points en route to another championship while advancing multiple girls to state.

With Kara Glenn and the 4x800 pacing the way, St. Charles North's girls track and field team won a sectional title for the second year in a row with 144 points. St. Charles East was second with 95 points, followed by Lake Park’s 74.

Huntley finished first in four events and won the IHSA Class 3A Belvidere North girls track sectional title. It's the fifth straight title for the Red Raiders. Hampshire, Jacobs, Cary-Grove, Burlington Central, McHenry and Crystal Lake Central all qualified events for state.

Kara Glenn showed her range in full, setting meet records in the 400 and 3,200 to pace St. Charles North to its second DuKane Conference title in as many years. St. Charles East set four meet records in taking second while Geneva took third.
