Dixon police took possession of a loaded handgun in a male student’s vehicle Monday while it was parked on school property, police said. Administrators at Dixon High School contacted police shortly after noon on Monday.

Henry Huenefeld, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according an Ogle County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Deputies responding about 1 a.m. Saturday morning discovered that the vehicle had hit a tree and rolled over in the ditch on the east side of the road.

Sheriff James Reed stated that the 16-year-old youth fell while avoiding an oncoming train and was located between lock 21 and lock 19, directly north of Wyanet.

Deputies reported they arrived at about 5 a.m. at the scene of the crash, which was along Spring Hill Road near the intersection of Lynch Road in rural Prophetstown.

No injuries to drivers or customers
