Fundraiser to offset funeral costs for Rock Falls man killed Wednesday

ROCK FALLS – A fundraiser is being held to help pay the funeral expenses of a Rock Falls man killed Wednesday in a two-car collision on Sterling’s west end.

Jayce Wyatt Standard, 27, of Rock Falls, formerly known as Jennifer Standard, died of injuries suffered in the crash.

His brother, Jeremy Standard, has established a GoFundMe account at https://tinyurl.com/dr33r288.

“Jayce was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to so many people throughout his hometown and the transgender community,” Jeremy wrote. “He touched the lives of everyone around him.

“Jayce dedicated his life to helping others in any way that he could. He accomplished so many goals, including earning his GED and continuing on to Sauk Valley Community College, where he was enrolled to start his dream of becoming a counselor. "

Among others, Jayce is survived by his partner, Summer Startt; his father, Larry Standard, his mother Nancy Standard, his brothers Jeremy, Justin, and Anthony Standard and Patrick Whitmore, and his sister, Destiny Dugger.

The crash happened around 9:10 a.m. at the intersection of East Lincolnway and Emerson Road, Whiteside County Sheriff John Booker said.

Christopher D. Link, 19, of Lyndon, was eastbound when his car crossed the centerline and struck the westbound car driven by Jayce.

Link was cited for improper lane usage; the investigation continues, Booker said.
