MORRISON – A Lyndon man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to domestic battery and a weapons charge.
Dean R. Hoefke, 42, pleaded guilty Friday in Whiteside County Circuit Court to possession of a weapon by a felon and domestic battery.
One charge each of felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic battery resulting bodily harm were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
He was charged with all four offenses on Dec. 12. According to court documents, Hoekfe was charged with possession of a weapon by a felon when he was found carrying a knife, which was prohibited since he was convicted in 2010 in Whiteside County of two counts of manufacturing or delivering a look-a-like substance, a Class 3 felony.
Along with the three-year prison sentence on Friday, he was given credit for 58 days served and ordered to complete six months of mandatory supervised release.
The misdemeanor domestic battery charge to which he pleaded guilty accused him of striking a family member in the arm. He was sentenced to 112 days in jail for that offense.
He also was ordered to pay $1,319 in fines, court costs and fees.
