Ben Oros’ 35 leads Dixon to links victory: Sauk Valley Wednesday Roundup

Boys golf

Dixon 156, North Boone 181: At North Boone, Ben Oros shot a 35 to lead the Dukes to a Big Northern Conference victory Wednesday.

Brody Nicklaus shot a 37, Max Kitzman marked a 39, and Jack Ragan shot a 45.

E-P second at triangular: Hall (159) took first, followed by Erie-Prophetstown (187) and Kewanee (218). The Panthers were led by Blake Geuns (43), Caden VanHorn (47), Gavin VanDyke (48) and Sawyer Copeland (49). Hall’s Landen Plym and Noah Plym both shot 37s for medalist honors.

Forreston 165, River Ridge/Scales Mound 171: Forreston’s Kaden Brown earned medalist honors with a 37. Darin Greenfield (42), Daylen Rahn (43) and Aspen McGlynn (43) also scored for Forreston.

Girls golf

Dixon 186, North Boone 231: Dixon’s Reese Dambman was medalist with a 41 during a Big Northern Conference win.

Rachel Drew shot a 44, Zoey Williams added a 45, and Tya Collins had a 56.

Girls volleyball

Serena 2, Amboy 1: At Serena, Amboy fell short in a nonconference match 25-20, 21-25, 15-17.

Jillion Anderson had eight kills and two aces, Tyrah Vaessen had five kills and five blocks, Emersyn Noble had 15 digs, and Jadyn Whelchel had 25 assists.

Polo 2, Forreston 0: Polo won 25-13, 27-25 in the home match as Bridget Call led the team with 11 kills and 11 digs. Jaiden Schneiderman led Forreston with 14 kills and two aces.

Pearl City 2, Scales Mound 0: PC won 25-23, 25-20 as Tana Gravert led the team with six kills. Jorja Johnson also had six aces.

Boys soccer

Mendota 9, Oregon 0: At Oregon, the hosts fell behind early and couldn’t come back in nonconference play.

Women’s golf

Emerald Hill Ladies Golf Association: Connie Wolber and Sue Nestor took first in the play of the day Tuesday in 18 holes. Cheryl Allen and Janet Freil took first in nine holes and Jane Minard and Sherry Wells were runner-up in nine holes. Wolber earned low gross in 18 holes and Wells was low gross in nine holes. Karla Anderson had low putts in 18 holes and Wells was low putts in nine holes. Anderson was also closest to the pin on No. 2 and Becky Dieterle had the longest putt.
