Byron loses IHSA Class 2A championship game to Breese Central, leaves with fifth state trophy

Byron couldn't overcome a cold shooting day and couldn't recover from slow starts to the second and third quarters, losing to Breese Central 44-28 in the Class 2A state championship game at Illinois State's CEFCU Arena. It's Byron's fifth state trophy.

Stillman Valley student earns Honorable Mention on IHSA All-State Academic Team

Stillman Valley High School senior Cale Kleinschmidt has earned a spot on the IHSA All-State Academic Team as an honorable mention. Less than 100 student athletes in the state are selected for the award.

Hawks regional title a huge morale boost

How important was Oregon’s regional title in boys basketball? Considering that male athletics at the high school have been in a down period for over a decade, it was a huge boost to morale.
