The Rochelle boys basketball used a game-changing first half run to eventually record a solid 71-46 victory over host Streator at Pops Dale Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Dixon erased a five-point deficit in the final minute of regulation, but Byron pulled out a 46-43 victory in overtime to knock Dixon from the ranks of undefeated in the Big Northern Conference on Saturday afternoon.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men’s track and field team started its 2026 indoor season on Jan. 17. The outdoor season starts March 27.

Hall of Fame basketball coach Russ Zick, who coached for 40 years, led Rochelle to six regional titles and also coached at Ashton-Franklin Center and Kaneland, died at age 72 on Jan. 13. He is remembered by former players and colleagues. 'He impacted so many people.'
