Warp Corps offers new shuttle service to Empower Shower events for homeless residents

Rocio Nevarez, a community health worker for the McHenry County Department of Health, goes through a bag of supplies that includes face masks, hand sanitizers, a rescue blanket and first aid kit. The bags were available for clients during an Empower Shower event at Willow Crystal Lake on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, in Crystal Lake. The event gathers multiple agencies with resources to help the homeless.

Warp Corps Community Outreach will now offer free ride service to Community Power Shower events at Willow Crystal Lake, 100 S. Main St. in Crystal Lake.

Empower Shower is a collaborative community event that provides homeless individuals access to a variety of resources.

Warp Corps, located at 114 N. Benton St. in Woodstock, and Willow Creek Community Church will work together to provide transportation from Woodstock and surrounding towns for the events, which are held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every first and third Monday of every month.

Regular pickups will be scheduled at the Woodstock Metra Station at 9:30 a.m. and the Woodstock Wendy’s parking lot at 10 a.m. Individuals who cannot meet at these location and times can reach out to the Warp Corps team at 260-409-9811 to arrange pick up.
