McHenry Township Republican Party seeks candidates for township trustee

The McHenry Township Republican Central Committee is seeking applicants interested in filling the vacancy on the McHenry Township Board of Trustees, according to a news release.

The vacancy is for Gary Barla’s seat, which was left open when Barla was picked to replace McHenry Township Supervisor Craig Adams. Adams had stepped down recently for personal reasons. Because Barla is a Republican, his seat must be filled by a Republican.

Candidates will be interviewed by the McHenry Township Republican Central Committee, which will then make a recommendation to the township for a replacement, according to the release.

To qualify, candidates must be a registered voter and a resident of McHenry Township for at least the last 12 months, not have a disqualifying criminal conviction on their record and be a Republican.

“Are you committed to restoring the American Dream, and reforming our government?” the McHenry Township Republican Central Committee asks in its news release. “We are looking for applicants who believe freedom, and opportunity are increased when government is limited and that great things can only be accomplished when government does not interfere. We want to select a candidate who will serve in this office and conduct their personal affairs honestly ethically and with integrity, to build public trust and foster good government.”
