Woodstock police accuse Chicago man of stealing trucks, GPS equipment

A 19-year-old Chicago man was arrested Thursday in connection with reports of two stolen trucks, thousands of dollars worth of GPS equipment and other valuable items, which the man allegedly attempted to sell, court records show.

Alonzo Martez Hall, of the 9300 block of South Racine Avenue, is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, theft and burglary in connection with a series of July 15 incidents.

On that date, Woodstock police allege that Hall was in possession of a stolen 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck and a stolen 2015 GMX Siera Denali pickup truck, according to a criminal complaint. Combined, the trucks were worth about $66,000, court records show.

Hall also is accused of possessing about $48,000 worth of stolen GPS equipment; a smart antenna system with tripods and batteries; and other valuable items, including a small $750 generator, according to the complaint. A police search of Hall’s cellphone further revealed photographs of the reportedly stolen items and text messages seemingly trying to sell them, according to court documents.

Police on Thursday served the arrest warrant tied to the allegations. Hall remained at the McHenry County Jail on Friday afternoon on a $280,000 bond.

His attorney, Jeffrey Altman, could not be reached for comment Friday.

Hall additionally is accused in a separate and ongoing McHenry County case from June involving possession of two loaded Glock pistols in violation of a previous weapons conviction, court records show.

The pistols were modified to fire more than one shot without manually reloading and fitted to accommodate a sound-suppressing attachment, according to the Woodstock police criminal complaint in that case.

Hall is scheduled to next appear in court Tuesday.
