McHenry’s Ella Boland led the way with nine kills as the Warriors picked up a 25-21, 25-20 Fox Valley Conference victory over Prairie Ridge on Tuesday in Crystal Lake.
Aspen O’Brien set up 23 assists to go with five digs and an ace for McHenry, Lexi Bania added 10 digs, and Mollie Hobson had five kills and a pair of blocks.
Ansley Morlock had seven kills and two digs for the Wolves in the loss, Mackenzie Schmidt had five kills, four aces and a block, and Breckan Severson added eight digs.
Burlington Central 2, Hampshire 1: At Burlington, the Rockets came away with an FVC rivalry win in a back-and-forth 25-16, 22-25, 25-21 affair.
Crystal Lake South 2, Jacobs 0: At Algonquin, the Gators got their season underway with a 25-16, 25-21 FVC win over the Golden Eagles.
Gabby Wire led the charge with nine kills, Emma Stowasser had 21 assists and four aces, and Alyssa Zagroba had 12 digs for South.
Cary-Grove 2, Dundee-Crown 1: At Cary, the Trojans (1-0, 1-0) came back to beat the Chargers, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17, in their FVC opener.
Kylie Hanson recorded 15 assists and six aces for the Chargers (0-1, 0-1), Makena Wesol had a team-high eight kills, Rachel Piluski added five kills and Tealyn Kamp had two kills and 12 digs. Emily Valencia had 15 digs.

McHenry 166, Prairie Ridge 167: At Turnberry, the Warriors narrowly defeated the Wolves in a dual meet that went down to the wire.
Max Bogenski led the way for McHenry in the narrow win, finishing in a three-way tie for medalist with a 39. Prairie Ridge’s Charlie Pettrone and Daniel Saville also shot 39s.
