Competitive cheerleading
IHSA State Cheerleading Meet: At Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Richmond-Burton, Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake Central, Prairie Ridge, Huntley and Dundee-Crown all advanced to Saturday’s finals of the state meet.
Richmond-Burton took fourth in the Small Team Division with 90.30 points. Columbia placed first with 93.82. The top-10 teams in each division move on to the finals.
Johnsburg (86.60) was 13th and Marengo (86.32), making its first state appearance, was 15th.
Cary-Grove (fifth place, 91.68), Crystal Lake Central (eighth, 90.24) and Prairie Ridge (ninth, 90.20) all moved on to the finals in the Medium Team Division. Grayslake Central was first with 94.50 points. Burlington Central (89.24) just missed qualifying in 12th place.
Huntley (93.43) took fifth in the Large Team Division to advance to Saturday’s finals. Lockport (96.48) was first, while Hampshire (88.92) took 14th and did not qualify.
Dundee-Crown scored 93 points to take fourth in the Co-ed Team Division. Belvidere North was the top scorer with 96.12 points.
Boys basketball
Prairie Ridge 61, McHenry 48: At McHenry, Eli Loeding scored a game-high 27 points as the Wolves pulled off a shocker and handed the Warriors their first Fox Valley Conference loss of the season. Ben Gablenz added 14 points for Prairie Ridge (10-17, 5-8)
Caleb Jett led McHenry (21-4, 13-1) with 15 points.
Burlington Central 73, Huntley 70: At Burlington, LJ Kerr scored 17 points and Patrick Shell added 16 as the Rockets beat the Red Raiders in FVC play. Jake Johnson added 12 for Central (19-8, 9-4).
Christian Wilson led all scorers with 23 points for Huntley (11-15, 6-8).
Crystal Lake South 57, Cary-Grove 53: At Crystal Lake, AJ Demirov’s 15 points led a balanced attack for the Gators in an FVC win against the Trojans. Carson Trivellini added 14 points and Tony Santarelli had 10 for South (23-4, 12-2).
Justice German and Dylan Dumele scored 20 points apiece for C-G (15-12, 5-9).
Dundee-Crown 43, Jacobs 35: At Carpentersville, the Chargers improved to 12-11 overall and 5-8 in the FVC with a win over the Eagles.
Girls bowling
Kaneland Regional: At DeKalb, Huntley advanced Oregon Sectional next week with a fourth-place team finish. The Red Raiders finished with a grand total of 5,475. The top four teams out of the regional advance.
Yorkville (5,676) was first, followed by Oswego East (5,658) and Oswego (5,560).
Senior Erica DeBello led the way with a 1,248 series and placed third overall. Ashlyn Tenglin (1,162) was 13th, Prianca Waters (1,086) was 23rd and and Katie Scaletta (1,014) was 28th.
Girls basketball
Huntley 63, Burlington Central 18: At Burlington, the Red Raiders pulled one step closer to finishing the FVC unbeaten with the win. Anna Campanelli led the way with 16 points. Luca Garlin added 11 points and Paula Strzelecki had 10 for Huntley (28-0, 15-0).
Cary-Grove 44, Crystal Lake South 39: At Crystal Lake, Sami Skerl scored 16 points to lead the Trojans to the FVC win over the Gators. Kennedy Manning added eight points for C-G (20-7. 13-2).
Lake LePage scored a game-high 18 for South (13-14, 7-7).
Prairie Ridge 44, McHenry 20: At McHenry, Zoe Nanos scored 14 of her game-high 18 in the first half as the Wolves won in the FVC. Bella Militelo finished with 13 points for Prairie Ridge (11-14, 7-8).
Plano 63, Harvard 26: At Harvard, Summer Jones scored 11 points as the Hornets dropped the Kishwaukee River Conference contest to the Reapers. Ana Gomez added six points for Harvard (14-13, 4-9).
Johnsburg 45, Woodstock 25: At Woodstock, Skye Toussaint led all scorers with 17 as the Skyhawks took down the Blue Streaks in the KRC. Summer Toussaint added 11 points for Johnsburg (18-10, 8-3).
Marengo 49, Richmond-Burton 29: At Richmond, Maggie Hansen drained three 3-pointers as the Indians won KRC game. Macy Noe added nine points for Marengo (15-12, 10-1). Morgan Splitt led R-B (7-19, 1-11) with nine points.
Sandwich 50, Woodstock North 37: At Sandwich, the Thunder fell to 6-18, 3-9 in the KRC with a loss to the Indians.
Marian Central 60, Wheaton Academy 36: At Woodstock, Juliette Huff drained seven 3s and scored 27 points to lead the Hurricanes in the Chicagoland Christian Conference.
Abby Miner scored 16 and Adriana Wrzos added 10 for Marian (14-15, 5-2).
