A Woodstock man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison in a plea deal after he was charged with drugging and sexually assaulting a child.
Jason L. Reinhard, 39, entered a guilty plea Wednesday before Judge Mark Gerhardt to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13 years old, a Class X felony, and one count of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony.
In exchange for the plea, three counts of sexual exploitation of a child, one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13 years old, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault using a controlled substance, two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child younger than 13, criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal assault charges were dropped.
Reinhard was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the Class X felony and 10 years for the Class 1 felony, which will run consecutively for 25 years total. Those sentences will run concurrently with his five-year sentence for possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine in 2022. Reinhard had been held in jail since his arrest in March 2023.
The case began in October 2022 when the Department of Children and Family Services referred a report of child abuse to the Woodstock Police Department. From there, the victim was interviewed by the Child Advocacy Center where it was “revealed that Reinhard and his girlfriend provided illicit drugs to the victim” and sexually assaulted her, according to a McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office news release. The offenses are alleged to have occurred over the course of 2019 to 2021, the Woodstock Police Department said.
Reinhard was held in the McHenry County jail on a $300,000 bond when he was arrested in March 2023.
Reinhard was also sentenced to five years in prison after violating probation in a 2021 burglary case where he was accused of burglarizing two Woodstock homes, as well as a detached garage and trailer in September 2021. The remaining counts in that case were dropped Wednesday, according to court documents.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Elizabeth Vonau. In a news release, McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese thanked and commended Woodstock Police Department Detective Adam Fischer for his investigative efforts on the case.
