The driver of a car that slammed into a Lake in the Hills house on Wednesday – leaving just the back back bumper sticking out the exterior wall and the rest of the car in the basement – may have been having a medical emergency, officials said.
Firefighters and police were called about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of Ridge Court for the report of a crash. There, they found the vehicle sticking out of the brick home’s wall, according to a Huntley Fire Protection District media release.

The driver of the grey Infiniti sedan, a 47-year-old man who was alone in the vehicle, had extricated himself from the car before firefighters arrived, according to the release. He was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to Lake in the Hills Public Information Officer Amanda Johnson.
While residents were home at the time of the crash, no one was injured inside the house, she said.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as contributing to the crash, Johnson said, adding that any citations against the driver are pending the crash investigation.
