No injuries were reported after a fire left a home uninhabitable Tuesday night near McHenry, officials reported.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to a call about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 5900 block of Fox Lake Road for a reported structure fire. First responders arrived within seven minutes to a one-story house with “flames visible from the rear of the home,” according to a McHenry Township Fire Protection District news release.
All residents were out of the home when firefighters arrived. Firefighters suppressed the fire with hose lines from the rear of the home and inside. Water was shuttled to the scene because of a lack of fire hydrants, while a live downed power line near the back of the home hampered crews, according to the release.
The fire was brought under control within 35 minutes. No injuries were reported from residents or firefighters, and the home was deemed uninhabitable.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District is investigating the fire. A damage estimate is not yet available, according to the release.
Fire protection districts from Round Lake, Spring Grove and Wonder Lake assisted at the scene, while fire departments from Richmond Township, Cary, Nunda Rural, Crystal Lake, Antioch and Wauconda covered the McHenry stations during the call.
