Downers Grove library to screen “Black Men in White Coats”

DOWNERS GROVE - Less than 2% of American doctors are Black men. One Black doctor set out to change that. Join the Downers Grove Public Library for a virtual screening of the documentary “Black Men in White Coats,” which will be available for viewing throughout the day Feb. 19.

A discussion on the documentary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23.

Fewer Black men applied to medical school in 2014 than in 1978, and Black men have the lowest life expectancy in the United States. This documentary dissects the systemic barriers preventing Black men from becoming medical doctors and the consequences on society at large.

How to get access to the film:

Once you register, you will be sent a link to the Black Men in White Coats film site at Indie Films.

You will be asked again to enter your email. This will provide a unique code just for you, linked to your email address. This unique code allows you to watch the film, any time between Feb. 19 and 21.

You will also receive an email confirmation and a reminder with your unique code.

If you are planning on watching this with another family member or friend in the same physical space, you only need one code.
