Liz Bishop announced her candidacy for La Salle city clerk.

“The city clerk’s role is vital to keeping La Salle’s government running efficiently,” Bishop said in a Monday news release. “Without someone dedicated to the job, we risk disorganization and inefficiency in managing city records and operations. This isn’t about politics — it’s about making sure our community has the leadership it needs to function properly.”

Bishop recently ran as a Republican for the House of Representatives 76th District seat in November, losing to Democrat Amy “Murri” Briel by about 500 votes. The April 1 election is not partisan.

When no candidates filed to run for La Salle city clerk, Bishop was approached and accepted the task of running as a write-in candidate, she said.

Bishop said she is stepping up because she believes in serving her community when there is a need. With her background in finance and history of community involvement, she said she is prepared to take on the responsibilities of city clerk and ensure that La Salle continues to function smoothly and efficiently.

“The strength of a community comes from people stepping up when needed,” she said. “I’m happy to do my part, and I ask for the support of La Salle voters to ensure this vital role is filled with someone who is committed to doing the job well.”

With no official candidate on the ballot, this race will be decided by write-in votes.

Current La Salle City Clerk Amy Quinn opted not to run for election.
