Man rescued from Illinois River near Spring Valley by barge co-workers

A barge worker fell Thursday into the Illinois River near Spring Valley and was rescued by co-workers, the Spring Valley Fire Department said.

Many resources were requested before firefighters arrived. The man was treated by firefighters and 10/33 Ambulance personnel before being taken to OSF St. Elizabeth in Peru. All other resources were canceled, the fire department said.
