2:20 p.m. Tuesday Winter storm warning extended to 4 a.m.
The winter storm warning issued for La Salle County was extended to 4 a.m. Wednesday. Heavy, wet snow and dangerous travel conditions expected. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are possible. Wind gusts could register as high as 40 mph. Travel will be difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could affect the evening commute. Snow rates will exceed 1 inch per hour at times this afternoon. Strongest winds will occur this evening.

Several bands of moderate to heavy snow will move across all of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois through the morning. Snowfall rates of 1-2″/hr expected; also don’t be surprised to see some lightning.

Several inches of additional snow accumulation are expected during the day with the highest totals expected west of the I-55 and I-355/294 corridors. A sharp gradient in snow totals is anticipated to set up roughly near or not far northwest of I-55.

Winter Storm Warning continues throughout today for hazardous and very difficult travel due to high confidence in impacting, heavy snowfall rates of 1-2+ inches per hour at times through the daytime. Travel will become very difficult, according to National Weather Service in Quad Cities.

As of 1:30 a.m., the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reports roads are icing over with some accumulation on them. “Plan ahead and take your time in your commute,” sheriff’s office said.
