PEOTONE – Peotone police announced Thursday that a suspect in a January robbery at the Peotone Travel Center was arrested this week by the U.S. Marshal Service Task Force.
Terrell L. Ferrell, of Chicago, is alleged to have been one of four men wearing masks who stole a lottery ticket display from the store’s counter Jan. 4, according to a Peotone Police Department news release.
Three of the suspects held the door open as the fourth ran from the store. The fourth suspect then ran from the store and drove away in a Lincoln SUV.
The travel center is in the 600 block of South 88th Avenue.
The 26-year-old Ferrell is accused of being one of the four robbers.
It is the second arrest made in that robbery as well as a Jan. 10 robbery and burglary in New Lenox, according to the release.
Leonard R. Hunter, of Chicago, was arrested Jan. 27 in Country Club Hills in relation to both incidents.
Peotone detectives later learned that this same group had been involved in similar incidents in New Lenox, Chicago and Matteson, using both a red pickup truck and a Lincoln SUV, according to the release.
Investigators determined that the four suspects rented the vehicles through an online service and identified the individual who made the rental, according to the release.
Assisted by the Chicago Police Department, Peotone investigators were able to identify Ferrell as one of the four suspects involved in the robbery at the travel center.
Video evidence confirmed that Ferrell also had been involved in cashing the stolen lottery tickets at multiple locations, according to the release.
An arrest warrant for Ferrell was obtained Jan. 30 by Peotone investigators.
Ferrell officially has been charged with robbery, burglary and theft, according to the release.
Authorities allege that Ferrell was involved in multiple burglaries and robberies.
The investigation continues.
