DeKALB – The Living Room at Northwestern Medicine’s Ben Gordon Center recently opened a new food pantry to support the community’s clients and families nutritional needs.

The pantry will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the center, 12 Health Services Drive, DeKalb. Rooted For Good, formerly DeKalb County Community Gardens, supplies the food pantry.

The food pantry features various nutritious food options, healthy snacks, non-perishable items, and DeKalb County food pantries resources. The pantry will provide special focus to residents experiencing food insecurity and health center clients. Food pantry staff includes a mental health professionals team. The pantry opening is part of the center’s mental health care commitment initiative.

The Living Room at Ben Gordon Center is a mental health service that provides residents space to address crises without visiting an emergency department.
