KIRKLAND – A Loves Park woman was flown to a Rockford hospital after suffering serious injuries in a rollover crash in northwest DeKalb County Monday morning, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

The Loves Park woman, 39 was taken to Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside, in Rockford, by a Mercy React Helicopter, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s office.

DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jim Burgh said a deputy investigating the crash told him the woman, who was the only person involved in the single vehicle rollover crash, was in stable condition after suffering serious injuries.

“The deputy followed up on it not too long ago, serious but stable is what they described it as,” Burgh said.

The crash occurred 7:26 a.m. Monday on Cherry Valley Road, south of Paulson Road, according to the release.

The injured woman had a suspended license at the time of the crash, and was issued citations for driving a red 2003 Ford Econoline Van with a suspended a license and without insurance, according to the releasee.

The driver was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage, but Burgh said other factors could have been at play.

“It was a mechanical issue, possibly with the brakes,” Burgh said. “It hasn’t been 100% determined,” Burgh said before noting an investigation into the crash remains open.
