The Sterling Golden Warriors jumped out to a double-digit lead, then had the answer after the rival Rock Falls Rockets cut it to three in their nonconference game Tuesday night at Musgrove Fieldhouse, as the Warriors pulled away for an 85-55 victory.

SVM area roundup: Sterling boys 3rd at Strombom tournament; Rock Falls boys split on final day at Geneseo tournament

The Sterling boys basketball team rolled past Dundee-Crown in the third-place game at the Sycamore tournament, while Rock Falls defeated Erie-Prophetstown but lost to United Township to close out the Geneseo tournament. Dixon dropped its finale at the Quincy tournament.
