Plainfield making spring cleaning convenient week of April 12

Residents can place household refuse, bulk items white goods at the curb on their regular pickup day

Nothing says “good-bye winter” than giving the home a good cleaning, inside and out.

To that end, the village of Plainfield and Waste Management will make spring cleaning easy for village residents during the week of April 12.

In addition, the pickup of yard waste resumes the first week in April.

During spring cleaning week, resident may place the following items at the curb by 6 a.m. on their regular pickup day: chairs, mattresses, and couches, refrigerators, washers, dryers and water heaters and properly packaged household refuse.

The following items cannot be picked up: paints, oils and solvents and other hazardous wastes, electronics, construction and demolition materials, concrete, rock, dirt, engines or large automotive parts. Any oversized items that cannot be placed in a compactor type truck are also excluded.

Make sure all yard waste is properly packaged in one of the following ways: kraft yard waste bags, a Waste Management yard waste cart or tied in 4-foot bundles weighing 50-pounds or less.

The following items will not be accepted as yard waste: mulch, sod, stumps, dirt, stones and landscape brick/pavers.

Spring Cleanup, At Your Door Special Collection and yard waste pickup are only available to residents who participate in Plainfield’s residential refuse collection program with Waste Management.
