An off-duty Joliet police officer died Friday following a crash in southeastern Will County, the Joliet Police Department said.

IDOT advises eastbound motorists to seek alternate routes and avoid I-80; lane and ramp closures come on a race weekend.

The Jefferson Street bridge in downtown Joliet was shut down Wednesday and the Illinois Department of Transportation did not say how long the bridge will be closed.
