For the second year in a row, the IC Catholic Prep boys wrestling team won the Class 2A state championship Saturday after beating Providence 39-25 in the championship match at Bloomington’s Grossinger Motors Arena.

After sending 14 wrestlers to last weekend's individual state tournament, Coal City's boys wrestling team capped off a perfect dual season when the Coalers repeated as Class 1A State champions on Saturday.

Providence sophomore Justus Heeg won his second state title on Saturday at State Farm Center in Champaign, and was one of three Celtics to reach the top of the awards stand.

Coal City became the only team in Illinois to have all 14 wrestlers punch their tickets to the state finals, while seven more area teams had 12 additional wrestlers advance out of the IHSA Class 1A Coal City Sectional.
