Lyndsey Grein and her Lincoln-Way Central softball teammates enjoyed another big day Monday.
Grein struck out 13 batters in a complete-game effort and went 4 for 4 at the plate with a two-run homer and five RBIs, leading the Knights to an 11-4 win over host Bolingbrook in Southwest Suburban Conference action.
Lincoln-Way Central improved to 13-0.
Herscher 7, Reed-Custer 3: At Herscher, Mya Beard hit a three-run homer to account for all of the Comets’ runs in their Illinois Central Eight Conference loss.
Grace Cavanaugh had two hits for Reed-Custer.
Coal City 11, Peotone 5: At Peotone, Makayla and Makenzie Henline went a combined 5 for 9 with three doubles and four RBIs as the Coalers won in ICE action.
Kaitlyn Japer was 3 for 4 for Coal City (2-6, 1-5).
Peotone got 2-for-3 efforts from Mackenzie Strough and Emma Herder.
Lemont 12, Thornton Fractional South 0: At Thornton Fractional South, Maddy Wallace fired a five-inning no-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and the Indians improved to 8-3 overall and 7-0 in the South Suburban Conference.
Wallace also had a double and two RBIs. Lily Schuit (double, two RBIs) and Raegan Duncan (double, triple, two RBIs) each had a pair of hits.
PREP BASEBALL
Lincoln-Way East 9, Stagg 0: At Lincoln-Way East, winning pitcher Anthony Panzella threw four innings as the Griffins improved to 11-1 with the Souhwest Suburban win.
Maxton Polad had three hits, and Zak Keegan had two RBIs.
Brother Rice 3, Providence 2: At Providence, Ryan O’Neil hit a solo homer and a double for the Celtics in their Chicago Catholic League loss.
Cain Headrick also had two hits for Providence (8-5).
Reed-Custer 14, Herscher 2: At Herscher, Jack Stellano earned the win, striking out 14 in six innings, and went 2 for 4 with a homer and double, as the Comets improved to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the Illinois Central Eight.
Robbie Fordonski was 4 for 5 with a homer and double. Corey Burch and Jarrett Goodwin each collected a pair of hits, while Jake McPherson, Connor Esparza, Dylan Garrelts and Clayton Newbrough added a hit apiece.
Minooka 2, Plainfield North 1: At Minooka, the Indians eked out the win in Southwest Prairie Conference action.
Plainfield North starter Brandon Bak (0-1) allowed two unearned runs in the first inning. He went the distance on the mound, striking out eight, walking two and surrendering four hits.
Luke Brown was 3 for 3 for the Tigers (7-2, 2-2), and Aiden Campbell went 2 for 3.
Streator 7, Wilmington 1: At Wilmington, the Wildcats spotted the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead after a half inning in their ICE contest.
Coal City 13, Peotone 3: At Peotone, Brady Best was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs for the Coalers in ICE action.
Coal City received two hits apiece from Riley Ponio (double), Alec Lovell, Chase Wasielewski (double, two RBIs) and Aydan Murphey (three RBIs).

Romeoville 2, Joliet Central 0: At Joliet Central, the Spartans captured a 25-18, 26-24 decision in Southwest Prairie Conference action.
