Shorewood retirement community donates $5,000 to Alzheimer’s Association

To date, The Timbers of Shorewood has donated a total of more more than $25,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association

The Timbers of Shorewood recently donated $5,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter as part of #GivingTuesday.

The rental retirement community raised the money through multiple events and fundraisers throughout 2021, which was “extremely successful this year,” Kevin Young, executive director of the Timbers of Shorewood, said in a news release.

The Timbers of Shorewood has donated a total of more than $25,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association through the years, Young said in the release.

In February, The Timbers of reached out to residents’ families to see if they’d like to buy a Valentine’s Day package. The package started at $8 and included a chocolate rose, a heart-shaped balloon and a personalized card.

Families were so enthusiastic about the program, the Timbers opened it up to the community and wound up donating $1,600 to the Alzheimer’s Association and a special Valentine surprise to every resident at The Timbers.

In 2020, The Timbers of Shorewood donated $7,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter, also as part of #GivingTuesday.
