1) The American Italian Cultural Society will hold its three-day Festa Italiana 2021 this weekend: 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. Features include live music all three days, a menu of Italian food for purchase, an outdoor Mass and pasta eating contest (Sunday) and a bake sale, raffles and children’s activities. 2) Bring the kids out to the free Nowell Park Back to School Festival, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Nowell Park Recreation Center, located at 199 Mills Road in Joliet. 3) On the Rocks upscale sports bar will host its first “Car, Truck, Jeep & Bike Show” at 11 a.m. Sunday at 1500 Essington Road in Joliet. Prizes will be given for best car, truck, jeep and bike. 4) St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Joliet will host its annual picnic from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Croatian Cultural Club, located at 1503 Clement St. in Joliet. Eddie Korosa Jr. and the Boys and Girl From Illinois will perform from noon to 4 p.m. and then Shindig will take the stage at 4 to 8 p.m. Food, refreshments and raffles are part of the day, too. 5) Joliet Unity Movement is hosting its annual 815 Youth Day Sunday at 1 p.m. Aug. 15 at Nowell Park’s Gardner Street pavilion in Joliet. The free event will feature a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, bouncy houses, games, tug-of-war, activity stations, talent show, music prizes, The Lil Big Wheel Race, car show, lots of giveaways, a double dutch contest and food (while supplies last).
