1) Come out for a night of music Thursday at the Joliet Area Historical Museum, located at 204 N. Ottawa St. in Joliet. Chicago Blues Angels will perform as part of the museum’s 2021 Summer Rooftop Outdoor Music Series. Features include full beverage bar, food truck and access to museum galleries.

2) Participate in a cruise night from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and help benefit Lawson Sizemore’s “Awesome Lawson’s Van Campaign.” The event will be held at D’Arcy Buick GMC, located at 2022 Essington Road in Joliet. Event features include hot dogs and other refreshments, music and 50/50 raffle. Donation is $10 a car.

3) Enjoy a drive-in movie Friday when the Plainfield Park District will show “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” at 8:30 p.m. Bott Community Park, 24550 W. Renwick Road in Plainfield.

4) For an outdoor chess experience, come out to “Gaming in the Forest – Chess” from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Creek Preserve – LaPorte Road Access, Mokena. 5) For a more quiet activity, check out the Robert Ryan Exhibit Lewis University’s Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery at the university’s main campus in Romeoville. The exhibit is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day through Aug. 13.

A former pictorial billboard/sign painter, Ryan learned to paint and later focused on mural and canvas work along with an emphasis of painting the contrast of shadows and light in scenery.
