Joliet police detectives are questioning a 30-year-old man who was spotted near an incident in which a 44-year-old man was stabbed Tuesday but no charges have been filed.

About 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the area near Bluff Street and West Marion Street for a report of a stabbing, according to a statement from Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English.

Officers found a 44-year-old man who suffered multiple stab wounds to his body and they provided him immediate medical aid until paramedics arrived, English said.

The 44-year-old man has been hospitalized in serious condition but his injuries are not considered life threatening, English said.

During the investigation, officers developed information that a man was seen “in the vicinity at the time of the stabbing,” English said.

Officers found a 30-year-old male near Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park, English said.

The man was detained and was taken to the Joliet Police Department for further questioning by detectives.

“At this time, no charges have been filed, and this case remains under investigation,” English said.
