Two people were killed and four others injured in a three-vehicle crash involving a garbage truck near Peotone in Will County.
About 11:20 a.m. Thursday, troopers responded to a crash on U.S. Route 45, south of Offner Road, which is between Manhattan and Peotone, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.
The area is northwest of Peotone and southeast of Manhattan.
The crash involved a garbage truck and two passenger vehicles, police said.
Four people have been taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries while two people were declared dead at the scene, police said.
“The roadway is currently closed. This crash investigation is active and no other details are available at this time,” police said.
