A Joliet man is hospitalized with serious but stable injuries after a crash involving three vehicles on Friday night.

Four people in all were taken to local hospitals with injuries, according to police.

At 9:34 p.m., Joliet police responded to Ruby Street and North Broadway Street in Joliet after receiving a report about a crash with injuries, according to a news release from the Joliet Police Department.

A Nissan Altima driven by a 34-year-old man from Joliet was traveling west on Ruby Street when it struck a Lexus RX 350 driven by a 67-year-old man from Naperville that was traveling north through the intersection on North Broadway at Ruby Street, according to the release.

The Nissan then struck a Kia Carnival driven by a 51-year-old Joliet woman, which was stopped facing south on North Broadway at Ruby Street, according to the release.

The collision with the Nissan caused the Lexus to collide into the front of a business at 205 Ruby St., according to the release.

The driver of the Nissan was freed from the vehicle and taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox by the Joliet Fire Department with serious, but stable injuries, according to the release.

The Joliet Fire Department also took three people to Ascension Saint Joseph – Joliet hospital: a female passenger of the Nissan, as well as the male driver and a female passenger of the Lexus, according to the release.

The driver of the Kia was not injured, but a juvenile passenger of the Kia was treated at the scene by paramedics, according to the release.

This crash remains under active investigation.
