Woman killed in Route 30 crash near Joliet was from Mokena

The driver of a Ford Mustang who was killed Monday morning when her car crossed into the path of an oncoming pickup truck on Route 30 in unincorporated Will County has been identified as 44-year-old Anne L. Barr from Mokena.

Barr was pronounced dead on Monday at 11:15 a.m. at the scene of the accident on Route 30 east of Cherry Hill Road in an unincorporated area between New Lenox and Joliet, according to Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers.

The accident happened about 10:15 a.m. near Cherry Hill Road and shut down the highway for four hours as Illinois State Police investigated.

The driver of the pickup and a passenger were treated for injuries at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and released, Major David Keltner with the state police said.

The Mustang was heading west when it crossed into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons, Keltner said.

Results from an autopsy and toxicological report are pending, according to the coroner’s office.
