The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Dr. Toya Webb, Ed.D. of Barrington, on March 20. She will officially assume the role on April 1.

Daniel Jaquez was appointed at the board’s February meeting and will serve until the next consolidated local election in April 2025.

Cassano, a Waubonsee alumnus and lifelong Aurora resident, has been a member of the Adult Education Program since 2019.

Dr. Sheela Vemu has served Waubonsee as a full-time biology instructor since 2013.

This year’s Distinguished Alumnus is Dr. Scott Mertes, Provost at Mid Michigan College.

Michels is one of only 15 community college trustees in Illinois to have served 35 years or more.
