The Lockport City Council has created new ordinances for tobacco shops selling drug paraphernalia which will take effect Jan. 1, 2025.

Following a decision to limit the sales of drug paraphernalia to licensed tobacco shops, the City of Lockport is looking into possible restrictions on unregulated synthetic drugs sales.

The Montgomery Police Department conducted tobacco compliance checks at businesses throughout the village on Wednesday, June 26.

The Oswego Police Department would like to increase the fines for students using tobacco and marijuana in order to deter their use and to compel the students to seek counseling.

Mayor Ray Soliman said the compliance check was initiated after he received information about a certain business selling products to a minor.

DeKalb police recently issued ordinance violations to nine businesses cited for selling tobacco to a minor.
