Newman used a three-run second inning to take the lead, then tacked on two late insurance runs in a 6-2 win over the Rock Falls to win the Class 2A Newman Regional title Saturday, its fourth straight regional title and fifth in the last six seasons – and its first in Class 2A.
Aidan Wyzard and Dylan Hodges each won four events, while Eli Crome qualified in three to help lead Sycamore to a sectional title. Dale Johnson qualified in two distance events for Sterling, and 11 1,600 runners qualified.
