The Putnam County Athletic Booster Club will hold its golf outing on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Edgewood Park Golf Club in McNabb. Registration will start at 9 a.m. with a shot gun start at 10 a.m.

Putnam County senior Valeria Villagomez has signed to play softball at Benedictine College in Kansas. She said she was drawn most to Benedictine "because of its values and opportunities to further both my academic and athletic career."

The seventh-grade Pumas defeated Ottawa Wallace 25-6, 25-12,  ICS 25-16 25-6 and Milton Pope 25-10, 25-19. The eighth-grade Pumas defeated ICS 25-11, 25-11, Ottawa Wallace 25-11 25-10 and Milton Pope 25-15, 25-10.

Putnam County Junior High will host a Volley for a Cause night on Thursday, Feb. 6, during its volleyball matches.

Putnam County defeated Kewanee Wethersfield 35-33 to capture their own IESA Class 2A seventh-grade regional championship on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The Pumas advance to sectionals at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 to face host Joliet Laraway.

Putnam County used a 17-0 start to defeat Fieldcrest 47-17 to capture the Little Tri-County Conference 7th-grade tournament championship on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Putnam County grad Maggie Richetta was one of four players from Sauk Valley Community College named to the Arrowhead All-Conference volleyball team for 2024.

The Pumas (22-2) advance to the Indian Creek Sectional to face Wethersfield (16-4) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

The Putnam County Junior High Pumas defeated Peru Parkside 6-1 to capture the Class 2A Fieldcrest Regional championship on Saturday.

The Pumas will take a 19-2 record to the IESA 1A State Tournament to face Lexington (16-5) at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Champions Field in Bloomington.

Nicholas Currie, a 2023 Putnam County High School grad, has been selected to play for Team Illinois against Missouri at Busch Stadium in St. Louis following the Cardinals-Giants game.

Putnam County had a good run in the 2A IESA State Track & Field at East Peoria, landing two medals.

The Putnam County Junior High Pumas volleyball teams swept the Tri-County Conference Tournament at Henry.

The Putnam County Junior High volleyball teams hosted their Volley for a Cure Night on Feb. 15 vs. Marquette.

The Putnam County 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams finished as undefeated champions in the Tri-County Conference by sweeping Midland on Monday, Feb. 12.

Putnam County scored nine runs in the third inning to break open Tuesday’s 1A regional championship against IV Catholic in McNabb on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Putnam County Junior High rallied to defeat Princeton Logan, 4-3, to capture its own Puma Classic softball tournament in McNabb on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The Panthers finished with a 1-3 tournament record.

Putnam County captured the Class 2A Seneca Regional championship, defeating Ottawa Wallace 25-16, 25-15. The Lady Pumas advanced to sectional play on Mondday at Lexington.

Putnam County-Hall’s Bailey Herr earned a berth to the girls state wrestling tournament berth out of the Geneseo Sectional by placing in the top four on Saturday, Feb. 11.

Putnam County High School Athletics will be having its annual Hall of Fame night as part of the boys basketball game with Lowpoint-Washburn on Friday, Jan. 13.

The Putnam County Junior High softball team finished second in the Lady Puma Classic. They also finished in first place  in the regular season in Little Tri-County Conference games going undefeated.
