The Putnam County seventh grade boys basketball team beat El Paso 29-20 for the championship game of the Tri-County Tournament on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
The PCJH 8th grade boys finished up the regular season at 18-2. They will take the No. 1 seed into the Little Tri-County tournament with a 6-0 record. On 8th grade night on Thursday, Jan. 8, the Pumas defeated Streator Woodland 53-8.
The PCJH softball field was named as Walker Field on Saturday in recognition of Chris Walker, who coached PCJH softball from 2001-2020. His PCJH teams made seven IESA state tournament appearances, capped with a state championship in 2009 and a state runner-up finish in 2014
The seventh-grade Pumas defeated Ottawa Wallace 25-6, 25-12, ICS 25-16 25-6 and Milton Pope 25-10, 25-19. The eighth-grade Pumas defeated ICS 25-11, 25-11, Ottawa Wallace 25-11 25-10 and Milton Pope 25-15, 25-10.
Putnam County used a 17-0 start to defeat Fieldcrest 47-17 to capture the Little Tri-County Conference 7th-grade tournament championship on Saturday, Jan. 18.
Putnam County had a good run in the 2A IESA State Track & Field at East Peoria, landing two medals.
The Putnam County Junior High volleyball teams hosted their Volley for a Cure Night on Feb. 15 vs. Marquette.
The Pumas (15-10) will play Mt. Pulaski for third place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7.
Putnam County scored nine runs in the third inning to break open Tuesday’s 1A regional championship against IV Catholic in McNabb on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
The Putnam County Junior High seventh grade volleyball team captured their first regional volleyball championship, defeating Streator Woodland, 25-15, 25-21 in their own regional, on Monday, March 1.
