Oswego Village Board voted unanimously to approve the new 20-year agreement. A boundary agreement between the two municipalities expired in 2022.

Legal issues have prevented the project – which is about 90% complete – from moving forward. The complex, located next to Oswego Village Hall, features 142 independent, assisted living and memory care residential units.

According to the village’s Unified Development Ordinance, painting brick, limestone or other natural stone is prohibited so that the materials retain their natural colors.

Community Solar is a program that is guaranteed to provide 10% savings annually.

The village would use $2.7 million in motor fuel tax funds along with $1.3 million in capital improvement funds to fund the project.

A data center is a centralized physical facility that stores businesses’ critical applications and data. Yorkville officials have touted their tax revenue benefits.

As part of the new rules, e-bicycles and e-scooters are not allowed on sidewalks in the village.

The new rules only apply to new construction. “We don’t want to force a retrofit on existing structures,” Oswego Development Services Director Rod Zenner had said.

“This agreement will outline project expectations, responsibilities, timelines, and financial details,” District 308 said in a recent post on its website regarding the plans for the former school property.

As proposed, five three-story apartment buildings containing 125 units would be built as well as six two-story owner-occupied townhouse buildings containing 36 units.

Oswego village trustees on Tuesday are set to vote on the revised concept plans. The number of units has been reduced from 202 units to 161 units.

The property contains six structures including a feed mill, grain elevators and a storage building, none of which are currently in use. Brad Smith, who had once owned Oswego Grain & Supply, donated the land.

The village owns about 15 acres of land on the north side of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks, west of Orchard Road. At the Nov. 18 Oswego Village Board meeting, village trustees approved a new contract with Creekside Farms, LLC.

“Officers are limited in enforcement due to the limitations of the state law," Oswego Police Chief Jason Bastin told village trustees at a recent Village Board meeting.

The majority of village trustees approved a $1.98 million tax levy. Oswego property owners will see a 2% decrease in the village’s property tax rate next year.

Kelly Bertog replaces former events manager Julie Hoffman, who had resigned from the position. She had been the village’s events manager since February 2018.

Whether it will be built on a site under construction on U.S. Route 34 and Kendall Point Drive is not entirely clear. In February, village trustees unanimously approved plans for a 12,500-square-foot grocery store.

At the Nov. 4 Oswego Village Board meeting, Village President Ryan Kauffman read a proclamation commending the efforts of Sergio Uribe Jr. and Ana Uribe.

The majority of trustees voted to approve the plans along with rezoning and annexing the land, which had been located in unincorporated Kendall County and was zoned for agriculture use.

Developer JM Development has reduced the number of units from 239 units to 202 units on the 12.34 acre property in Oswego. That includes 172 apartments and 30 townhouses.

Owned and operated by the village of Oswego, Venue 1012 opened in August 2021. Plans for Venue 1012 started to take shape after local business owner Kevin Fialko donated a three-acre plot of land to the village.

Portillo’s is in the process of installing protective barriers in front of the restaurant, including bollards. A bollard is a short vertical post used to manage traffic and parking around areas where there are a lot of pedestrians.

Oswego will implement its own grocery tax in light of the state’s 1% grocery tax expiring on Jan. 1 of next year.

The current public works facility at 100 Theodore Drive was constructed in 2002. Right now, numerous pieces of equipment have to be stored outdoors because there is a limited amount of space in the building.

At the Sept. 2 Oswego Village Board meeting, trustees approved a funding agreement for the project, which is estimated to cost about $15 million. The village is receiving $10,583,459 in federal funding for the project.

The village received $967,000 in grocery tax revenue in 2024 and is expected to receive at least $1 million in grocery tax revenue in 2025.

Bay 54 is being proposed by the same group that currently owns and operates The Lewis, a ‘70s inspired cocktail lounge located in downtown St. Charles.

At their Aug. 19 meeting, Oswego village trustees approved a special use permit for TermiNader Fitness.

Plans are to open the restaurant by the end of August. The Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce plans to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the restaurant from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 22.

The Kane County Coroner’s office is investigating the death of the toddler. Following the crash, the child was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead.

The village’s Happy Tails Dog Park opened in August 2022 on 1.5 acres next to the Oswego Public Works facility at 100 Theodore Drive.

At the June 24 Oswego Village Board meeting, village trustees unanimously voted to increase the village’s water tap-on fees by $3,000 to bring them to $5,200 per unit.

Village trustees unanimously approved the concept plan for Harrison Street Square. The property consists of three parcels. Applicant USC, LLC wants to renovate an industrial building at 174 S. Harrison St. into retail spaces.

At the April 22 Oswego Village Board meeting, trustees unanimously approved installing two additional stop signs at the intersection.

The village of Oswego's current residential water tap-on fee is $2,200 per unit for all housing types. That rate might go up.

As a result of the litigation, the raw water coming out of the village’s wells will be tested for PFAS.

A developer now is proposing to build 52 residential units on eight acres on the southwest corner of Wolf’s Crossing and Douglas roads in what currently is unincorporated Kendall County. This is down from its original proposal of 66 units.

At the May 6 Oswego Village Board meeting, village trustees unanimously approved an ordinance providing for the issuance of not to exceed $24.3 million in general obligation bonds to generate the necessary $20 million in project costs expected this year.

The improvements the owners of My Sister’s Lil Doughnut Shop plan to make – which also include installing safety bollards – are estimated to cost $15,550.
