Update: A 10-year-old Montgomery boy died after being struck by a vehicle while walking across U.S. Route 30 in Montgomery on July 31, officials confirmed Monday.
As part of the “2025 National Night Out” festivities, the Village of Montgomery Police Department is visiting nine location throughout the community between 6 and 8 p.m. on August 5.

A firework ignited a house in Montgomery on the Fourth of July, with flames crawling up the home’s side.
“The safety of our students and school staff is our highest priority,” Montgomery Police chief Phil Smith said in the release. “We commend the school staff and administrators for their immediate response and cooperation.”
An Oswego man who died following a car crash in Montgomery on Wednesday has been identified.
“This event is what this job is about, safety and community engagement; it helps to have some fun while doing just that,” says Commander Liz Palko, lead organizer of the event.
