Kendall County Community Food Pantry news
The USDA recently announced the termination of future Household Food Security reports. The report has been published annually for 30 years. Its last report, which will contain 2024 data, will be its last.
The discussion will be preceded by a presentation on the matter by the Yorkville Police Department and the Kendall County Health Department during the Sept. 23 meeting at City Hall.
Food pantries across northern Illinois anticipate an increase in demand as a result of almost $200 billion in cuts in the next 10 years to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The cuts are part of the “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act.”
The district’s association with the food pantry began several years ago with what has become an annual district-wide food drive in support of the pantry and then expanded in 2020 to include the satellite pantry.
