State Rep. Suzanne Ness’ fourth annual diaper drive is underway and runs through Monday, Nov. 4, with dropoff spots throughout the 66th District she represents.

The list of candidates for next year’s elections began to take shape this week. On the ballot next year are countywide offices, two county-level judicial vacancies and seats on the McHenry County Board and in the Illinois House and Congress.

By a margin of just 69 votes, Connie Cain is on track to be the Republican nominee for the 66th House District in Illinois after her opponent, Arin Thrower, conceded the race Wednesday evening.

State Rep. Suzanne Ness will hold mobile office hours 10 a.m. to noon July 11 at the Huntley Area Public Library as part of an effort to remain accessible and bring services to every part of the district, according to a news release.

Following Tuesday’s primary, unofficial vote totals for the 66th House District show a very close race, Connie Cain is currently ahead of Arin Thrower as they vie for the chance to face incumbent state Rep. Suzanne Ness, D-Crystal Lake, in November.

The incumbent is leading in one of two contested legislative primaries in McHenry County while just 64 votes, or less than a percentage point, separated the Republican candidates in the race for the 66th House District.

A long-time accountant and a former television producer, both of whom have been involved in local politics, are vying to become the Republican nominee for the 66th House District.
