A flag ceremony was held for Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at Stone City VFW Post 2199. A free community luncheon and health screening was also held at the post. The post has been under the new leadership of U.S. Army veteran Jose Guzman since last June.

The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago has named two Plainfield residents to be among its 2025 class of heroes. The two will be honored at an event in Chicago in April.

The program “recognize residents who show civic pride by having outstanding yards,” according to the city.

A CITGO Lemont Refinery employee has been recognized as a hero by the company and the Village of Lemont after he saved a citizen from a burning vehicle in January.
